The Arts of Immortal Spirit

Tae Kwon Do

Tae Kwon Do is defined as the art of kicking and punching or “smashing with the first,” it is the world’s most popular martial art. With over 200 countries practicing the art, Tae Kwon Do has now replaced Karate for the generic term for an art of kicking and punching. With it’s official induction at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia as an official sport, Tae Kwon Do’s popularity will continue to rise well into the future.

Hapkido

The form of Hapkido today is as vast as can be. Almost every organization or school has their twist on the art and rightfully so, as Hapkido is meant to be a universally compatible art. The primary form of Hapkido taught at Immortal Spirit is the style of Grandmaster Lee, Jeong Hyo. Grandmaster Lee learned directly from Grandmaster Choi during his time of teaching the "hard" Hapkido and currently holds the rank of 9th Dan, which is the highest "testable" rank that one can hold within the Korean martial arts. Also, because of Grandmaster Lee's teaching experience of over forty years to everyone from civilians to law enforcement to military personal, both U.S. and Korean, the method of Grandmaster Lee's Hapkido that is taught at Immortal Spirit is very real life and "no nonsense" oriented. As anyone of our Hapkido students can say, the method, and most importantly, principles, that we employ in our approach to Hapkido is far different than anything on the martial arts scene today.

Youth Classes

Our youth classes, that encompass the age range from 4 to 14 yrs, is a character development based curriculum that strives to equip our students with indispensable and valuable life skills that reach far beyond the walls of our school, ones which we hope they will carry with them for rest of their years. “Anyone can learn to kick and punch,” is our motto, so we focus on developing much more than our youth’s physical capabilities, we focus on honing in on their minds and hearts.

Adult Classes

Adult classes at our academy begin at age 14 and continue from there. Our focus with the adult curriculum at our school is striving to meet the individual needs of our students. For adults, the purposes and reasons for training can cover a very wide spectrum. From the teen who wants to learn to defend himself, to the working professional who wants to simply get out of the old gym routine for some quality exercise and stress relief, we seek to identify with each students unique purpose and meet their wants and needs to the best of our ability.
